We’ll start our day at Mt. Scopus with a panoramic view in the cool clean air of this heavenly city. From here, Jerusalem’s Old City is spread out beneath us with its unique blend of domes, minarets and steeples nestled within its walls.
We will descend Mt. Scopus and pass the Church of All Nations, the Garden of Gethsemane and Jehoshaphat Valley (Kidron Valley), and then enter the narrow and busy allies of the Jewish and Armenian Quarters.
Stretched out in the middle of the Jewish quarter is the excavated Byzantine-era Cardo, the city’s most prominent foundation. We’ll descend the hill to visit the famous Western Wall (also known as the Wailing Wall, or the Kotel), the holiest Jewish landmark.
From here, we’ll turn northwest to walk a section of the Via Dolorosa where Christ walked towards his crucifixion, all the way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Christ’s crucifixion at Calvary took place and his burial tomb stands.
We will take time to visit the Old City bazaar with its unique souvenirs and memorabilia shops. After lunch, we’ll walk through the Old City market and depart Jerusalem to descend below sea level to the lowest place on earth – the Dead Sea. On route, we’ll pass near important sites like the Judean Hills and the Good Samaritan Inn and stop briefly for a selfie at the sign indicating “sea level” (in the middle of the desert!).
After arriving at the Dead Sea, we’ll relax on a beautiful beach, float in the salty water and enjoy a natural spa treatment with black Dead Sea mud.
Take off your street clothes, welcome the sun’s rays (which here, have the lowest levels of UVB), relax and enjoy the natural Dead Sea beach. Cover yourself with the mineral-rich Dead Sea mud and take a photo floating in the Dead Sea. After completely unwinding and feeling rejuvenated, we will drive back to Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv.
